Hanslip Ward & Company was founded by my great grandfather Arthur James Hanslip Ward in 1882.

A J H Ward became deeply involved in the old port at Harwich. He became the youngest recorded Mayor at the age of 25. He undertook public appointments including Registrars of The County Court/Birth Death and Marriages.

He was clerk to Port Health Authority, The Poor Board and The Justices.

The various public appointments and private practice continued through my grandfather H M A Ward and thereafter my father H M H Ward.

Public appointments became full time leaving the Justices Clerks Office the only Clerkship available when I qualified and joined the partnership in 1972.

That appointment gave me practical varied experience in matrimonial, juvenile and criminal law.

In approximately 1975 that Clerkship became full time appointment.

The only public appointment maintained by the company is Clerk to the Tax Commissioners. This tribunal is organised and conducted by me and advice on law is given where appropriate.

This appointment gives good insight in to the income tax and capital taxes prevailing in the United Kingdom. Advice can be given to any tax payer seeking assistance in dealing with this Tribunal.

Mr R J H Ward
